Florida Holiday Resort Information Listings
Clearwater - This is a great destination for those on fly-drive and two centre holidays as Clearwater, the largest of the Gulf Coast of Mexico resorts is located about 130 miles from Orlando. Clearwater offers beautiful stretches of white sand, a whole range of watersports, including big game fishing. The area has a lively atmosphere, excellent range of restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops. The world-famous Busch Gardens theme park at Tampa Bay is close by and a boat trip to see dolphins is a must.

Daytona Beach - Located on the central east coast of Florida, Daytona Beach stretches for over 20 miles along white sandy beaches and is a favourite family beach holiday destination but is only an hour’s drive away from the Kennedy Space Center. From the beaches at Daytona you can surf, jet-ski, sail, parasail, go fishing, hire bicycles, fly kites and even take a drive in a hired beach buggy. Daytona’s hard sands have provided fun for speedlovers ever since the likes of Sir Malcolm Campbell set and broke records on the beach. Now cruising is still allowed along an 18-mile section of the beach during daylight, but the speed limit is a only 10 miles per hour: for real speed visit the world-famous Daytona International Speedway where the annual Daytona 500 Nascar race is held every year. With so much to do on the beach there is little need to do anything else but for those who do there are many attractions in the neighbouring towns along the intracoastal waterway and on the mainland. From archaeological sites to mini-golf, museums, haunted houses, planetariums and chocolate factories, there is always something to do in Daytona Beach. Its location means it is within easy reach of Orlando and its theme parks for day trips - you can visit Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios and Epcot Center.

Fort Lauderdale - Known as the ‘Venice of America’ Fort Lauderdale is a city of islands, built on a network of canals, rivers, bays and waterways, fronted by 23 miles of glorious golden sands on the Atlantic coast of Florida. A sophisticated yet casual resort town attracting families and couples from all over the World, boating is hugely popular as is cycling, roller-blading or simply strolling along the palm tree fringed beachfront promenade. Divers are can find one of the only living coral reefs in the United States accessible from shore, and there are many sporting facilities throughout the city, particularly some amazing golf courses. On the cultural side, visit the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, the Florida Grand Opera, or the annual Film Festival and numerous art galleries and museums. Fort Lauderdale has the facilities and attractions to please young or old wanting fun in the sun and Miami lies only a day trip, 40 miles away.

International Drive - Known as 'I-Drive' this is the hub of Orlando's tourist area, with a five-mile stretch of hotels, restaurants, bars, shopping malls and theme parks, including the famous Wet 'n' Wild water park. There is a shuttle service called the 'I-Ride System', which operates a trams from 7am to midnight. There is 24/7 fun and entertainment with a great selection of restaurants, ranging from fast food and Chinese to gourmet cuisine. For bargain hunters visit the Belz Factory Outlet, where you'll find designer labels at great-value prices or the Florida Mall which has over 200 stores.

Key West - The last in a string of nearly 400 islands that extend from the tip of mainland Florida into the Atlantic Ocean, and the southernmost point of the US has become one of Florida's busiest tourist destinations. Key West is connected to the mainland by one of the most famous roads in America. Known as The Overseas Highway (US1) it links Miami with the Florida Keys islands, crossing about 30 of them via a series of bridges and causeways. Key West, 159 miles southwest of Miami, is literally the end of the road. The drive through the Keys offers some spectacular scenery and all the populated islands and resorts en route offer great watersports opportunities. Good beaches are rare, but the Coral Coast offers some excellent snorkelling, diving and fishing. The city of Key West is charming with plenty of historic interest, palm-lined streets, gingerbread mansions and tin-roofed conch houses. It is a favourite haunt of artists and writers, having been home to Ernest Hemingway, Thomas Edison, Harry Truman and Tennessee Williams.

Kissimmee
- Close to Walt Disney World in Florida, Kissimmee is a favourite with families as it has plenty of facilities, including shops, restaurants and bars. Rent a luxurious villa with its own pool or a condo for those on a tighter budget. For nightlife, there are places to enjoy an exciting dinner show, including Arabian Nights, Medieval Times, Capone's and Downtown Disney.
The 20 mile long main street leads to the entrance of Walt Disney World, and other attractions, including Water Mania, a 36acre water park. Visit the 'Old Town' shopping mall which recaptures small town America, with authentic wood-fronted stores and tree-lined sidewalks.
